For licenses issued or renewed prior to January 1, 2007, producers are required to obtain 48 continuing education hours every 4 years. As part of the requirement, 6 of the 48 hours must be related to insurance Ethics and Fraud.
As of January 1, 2007, New Jersey has adopted new licensing laws. All producers licensed after January 1, 2007 or licenses renewed on or after January 1, 2007 will be issued for a two year license term. Producers are required to obtain 24 continuing education hours every 2 years. As part of the requirement 3 of the 24 hours must be related to insurance Ethics. Also if you sell Flood insurance, you are required to obtain 3 continuing education hours on Flood insurance.
NOTICE: Under the new two year license regulation you are no longer required to take continuing education credits in your line of authority. Any courses will be acceptable.
